PostSubject: List of useful software [Part 1]   Wed Aug 08, 2007 9:09 pm

Here will be listed 10 useful free programs to install on your computer. No copy/paste: it's my own post. Razz

Here we go:

- The VLC media player: able to read all video formats.
Website: http://www.videolan.org/.
Direct link.

- Safe XP and Game XP: the first one make you able to deactivate some options and services of Windows XP to optimizate it. Game XP does the same, but for the gamers: it optimizates settings for a perfect configuration for games.
Website: http://theorica.net/.
Direct links to Safe XP and Game XP.

- Orb 2.0: With Orb installed, you can access to your files on your PC from anywhere and from any device. You just have to let it on...
Website: http://orb.com/en.
Direct link.

- Clipboard Text Scrubber: for a clean copy/paste only in text. /ban HTML.
Website: http://binaryfortress.com/.
Direct link.

- MMM Basic: Bored of programs invading your right-click? This is the solution.
Website: http://hace.us-inc.com.
Direct link: Check here.

- Virtual Dub: A bit ugly, it's a classic for video editing: Without being a real editor, it can cut scenes, delete black strips, convert the extension, extract the sound, etc...
Website: http://virtualdub.org/.
Direct link or stable old version.

- Vdownloader: download videos from Youtube, Dailymotion, etc... This download manager allows you to enter a link to a video or to search it in its search engine. Then, it does the rest: catch, download and convert to AVI or Mpeg.
Website: http://vdownloader.es/.
Direct link.

- Avast: The classic anti-virus, beware of getting annoyed by updates, pop-ups, alarms and such.
Website: http://avast.com/.
Direct link: Check [http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Edition/3000-2239_4-10721010.html]here[/url].

- Super!: The king of the video conversion. This ultimate tool, which is a classic, has an ugly main window first, butyou only have to specify the file to convert and the format and that's all! Note: it can bug on very big files.
Website: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html.
Direct link.

- Cooliris: You can hardly miss that magic Firefox extension. It allows you to preview a webpage before clicking on it link. For an example, if you search for something on google, put your cursor on a link and a blue and green icon appears right to the link. Put your cursor on this icon and the preview of the page appears in a window that will close after some seconds. If it's interesting, you can open it in a new tab or keep it for later use. For this, click on Add to stack. The page then comes in a little tab right to the browser. There's also a version for Internet Explorer 6.0 but they're working on a version 7.0.
Website: http://www.cooliris.com/Site/index.html.
Direct link or Internet Explorer 6.0 version.

Note: all downloads are for an average computer with Windows XP as OS. Visit website for other versions (Mac, older release, etc...)
Note 2: After 8 hours, i've finally finished this topic. Smile
Note 3: Sorry for the bad look, but the forum removed all spaces. Bold texts are links.
